Whenever Hollywood makes a movie, they’re either giving us an insight into what is to come, what has been or what is.
The 1993 movie Jurassic Park centers on the fictional Isla Nublar near Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast, where a billionaire philanthropist and a small team of genetic scientists have created a wildlife park of cloned dinosaurs.
Here’s an interesting story from October 31, 2012:
While attempting to capture close-up images of a once-remote island off Costa Rica, fly-by Google cameras snapped a shot of what appears to be real sauropods.
The photos were quickly taken down from Google Maps. Experts were able to download and analyse the files, however.
“It appears to be a family of sauropods, perhaps of the Brachiosaurus genus,” said renowned paleontologist Robert J. Hokker. “All I know is, we better get more pictures.”
Hokker may be out of luck, however. Costa Rican officials maintain that the island has been labeled a no-fly zone, and that Google had apparently taken photos illegally. Many believe this fact led to the taking down of the image. Hokker says that officials should consider the interest of science and release any more photos taken.
“I don’t know if this was supposed to be some kind of secret project,” Hokker said. “But if this is real, the world has to know about it.”
Research has apparently proven it is impossible to clone dinosaurs from the DNA of fossils, since, after cell death, enzymes start to break down the bonds between the nucleotides that form the backbone of DNA, and micro-organisms speed the decay.
As a result, researchers have calculated that DNA has a half-life of 521 years. That means that after 521 years, half of the bonds between nucleotides in the backbone of a sample would have broken; after another 521 years half of the remaining bonds would have gone; and so on.
Dinosaurs lived thousands of years ago. The Scriptures tell us that everything was created in six days:
“And Yahweh said, ‘Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.’ And it was so. Yahweh made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And Yahweh saw that it was good. Then Yahweh said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.
So Yahweh created mankind in His own image, in the image of Yahweh He created them; male and female He created them. Yahweh blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’
Then Yahweh said, ‘I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the animals of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground — everything that has the breath of life in it — I give every green plant for food.’ And it was so.
Yahweh saw all that He had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning — the sixth day.” Genesis 1:24-31
Evolutionists claim the earth is millions or billions of years old. This is incorrect, since the earth was created on the first day of Creation Week. Everything on earth was created during the six days of the Creation Week.
Also, according to Scriptural genealogies, Adam and Eve lived approximately 7,518 years ago, and Noah lived about 5,612 years ago. (Yahweh told Adam there would be 5,500 years between him and the coming of the Messiah — the great five days and a half, and Yahshua was born approximately 2,018 years ago, in 5 BCE.) So, if all creatures were created within the six days mentioned in the Scriptures, dinosaurs cannot be millions of years old.
Dinosaurs were originally herbivores, as was man and all other creatures:
“‘And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground — everything that has the breath of life in it — I give every green plant for food.’ And it was so.” Genesis 1:30
This changed after the flood, when Yahweh told Noah and his family that he had given them animals for food:
“Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.” Genesis 9:3
During the Great Flood, everything on earth was destroyed and only Noah and his family and the creatures Yahweh commanded to enter the ark survived the deluge.
“Yahweh then said to Noah, ‘Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.’” Genesis 7:1-4
“Every living thing that moved on land perished — birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died. Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; people and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.” Genesis 7:21-23
So if dinosaurs entered the ark, what happened to them?
Creation scientists believe that dinosaurs were called ‘dragons’ before the word ‘dinosaur’ was invented in the 1800s. We would not expect to find the word ‘dinosaur’ in Bibles like the King James Version (1611), as it was translated well before the word ‘dinosaur’ was ever used.
We see the word ‘dragon’ in many instances in the Scriptures. Here are a few:
“Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.” Deuteronomy 32:33
“And I went out by night, by the gate of the valley, even before the dragon well, and to the doung-port, and viewed the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down, and the gates thereof were consumed with fire.” Nehemiah 2:13
“I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls.” Job 30:29
“Though you have sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.” Psalm 42:19
Also, there are many very old history books in various libraries around the world that have detailed records of dragons and their encounters with people. Many of these descriptions of dragons fit with how modern scientists would describe dinosaurs. (P.S.: Dinosaurs/Dragons are not able to, and never could, breath fire.)
After the flood, land animals (including dinosaurs) found the new world to be much different than the one before the flood. Due to competition for food that was no longer in abundance, other catastrophes — man killing for food (and perhaps for fun) — and the destruction of habitats, etc, many species of animals eventually died out. The group of animals we now call dinosaurs just happened to die out too. In fact, quite a number of animals become extinct each year. Extinction seems to be the rule in earth history (not the formation of new types of animals, as you would expect from the evolution theory).
So where did these dinosaurs come from?
The aquatic creatures could not enter the ark, but they also survived. These dinosaurs are sauropods, amphibious dinosaurs that survived the flood.
The Loch Ness ‘monster’ in Scotland are plesiosauruses and elasmosauruses, aquatic reptiles that survived the flood.
Could these dinosaurs be hybrids of the Loch Ness elasmosaurus or plesiosaur and another reptile?
That would make them interspecific hybrids, which are bred by mating two species, normally from within the same genus, whose offspring display traits and characteristics of both parents.
The offspring of an interspecific crossbreed are very often sterile; thus, hybrid sterility prevents the movement of genes from one species to the other, keeping both species distinct. Sterility is often attributed to the different number of chromosomes the two species have, for example donkeys have 62 chromosomes, while horses have 64 chromosomes, and mules (offspring of a male donkey and a female horse) and hinnies (offspring of a male horse and a female donkey) have 63 chromosomes.
As we can see from the picture above, the dinosaurs are most definitely able to breed, so they are the original species, created by Yahweh, and perfect, magnificent creatures.
However, there are other dinosaurs on the island — terrestrial dinosaurs which have survived extinction — as well as Gigantopithecus (from the Ancient Greek γίγας gigas ‘giant’, and πίθηκος pithekos ‘ape’), a genus of ape standing up to three metres (9.8 feet), and it is possible to clone these creatures, just like the movie.
(NB: There is no information available on a paleontologist named Robert J. Hokker, but all the other information is accurate.)
Wondering how the animals migrated from the ark’s location to the rest of the world?
“Then the ark rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.” Genesis 8:4
The Scriptures are clear that the ark’s landing point was among the mountainous areas of eastern Turkey, where present-day Mount Ararat is located, and western Iran, where the range extends (in the Middle East).
After the flood, Yahweh desired the ecological reconstruction of the world, including its vulnerable animal kinds, and the animals must have spread out from the mountainous region known as Ararat.
Many creationists have suggested that the catastrophic events of the flood would have left the oceans after the flood slightly warmer than at present. In addition, we assume that the triggers for the flood would have been massive volcanic activity (the ‘fountains of the deep’), producing large amounts of aerial dust for the first time in earth’s existence. Therefore, the atmosphere in the immediate post-flood world would have been slightly cooler than at present. A warmer ocean meets a cooler atmosphere. Greater evaporation from the ocean would, therefore, lead to greater atmospheric precipitation, which could have been the trigger for the Ice Age.
The presence of an Ice Age for one or two hundred years after the flood would lead to lower ocean levels than today. Therefore, there would have been land bridges, and narrower ocean passages, across which animals could migrate. For example, marsupials, having such a short gestation period, would have more speedily migrated to their current abodes in South America and Australia. The latter is more isolated today.
The end of the Ice Age would have led to rising sea levels, cutting off land bridges, and widening ocean passages. In the case of Australia, the lack of placental mammals would have caused marsupial mammals to fill environmental niches normally held by placental mammals in other areas. Whereas, in South America, smaller marsupials such as opossums would have had to co-exist with other mammals.
NB: This post-flood speciation or development of Australian marsupials is NOT evolution — the development would take place within an existing gene pool. There would be no creation of new genetic information, so this process is not evolution. It is breeding ‘after their kind’.
